When asked how his upcoming posting on HMAS Ballarat will differ from his role in NGN, he laughs. "Less paperwork I hope!" However, LCDR Cook did admit that the importance of team communication and ownership of outcomes was the major lesson from his NGN experience that can be applied onboard ship. "Having an agenda for a meeting and a desired outcome, which is then agreed, helps in shaping what is delivered out of any given situation," said LCDR Cook. "Ensuring that everyone knows the outcome and position, and what is required of them -- you can't always take for granted that people will accept and be on board. The combination of communication and process is key."
