Maritime Logistics Community News : Winter 2011
41 NAVY SUPPLY NEWSLETTER WINTER 2011 o CSO(S) and CFLS advised that they would be meeting with the One PAC organisation to provide some constructive criticism of the services that had been provided. • Delineation of responsibilities between Surface Forces Supply Department (SFSD) and CFLS. o LCDR Levitt, SO SFSD advised that she would be meeting with CFLS and FSO very shortly to clarify the roles and responsibilities between these organisations. The result of which will be sent out via signal and promulgated in the next update of the Australian Fleet Government Orders. • Self Assessment tool o CFLS and SFSD advised they would be providing an update on the Self Assessment Tool (governance/compliance checks for naval stores) following a meeting with representatives from the Navy Compliance and Assurance Branch. The meetings have proven to be very effective and informative; they saw the useful exchanges of ideas with robust discussion and positive feedback. The majority of topics have had a direct impact on the roles and responsibilities of the seagoing SO; this was always my objective. SO SFSD LCDR Bec Levitt has introduced a monthly SFSD Newsletter that addresses the topics discussed at each of the SO Swindle's in greater detail. The aim of the Newsletter is to keep ships informed of what is occurring in the world of Supply; identify common errors within the Fleet and educate best practice; provide a handy billy; and have some fun. It is a great avenue for improving our core business and getting our basics right. All seagoing Supply members are encouraged to contribute to the newsletter through providing feedback, suggestions and articles. The communication between gatherings remains strong through email and discussion. I am looking forward to the next meeting planned for June 2011. I hope to see more members present to provide a greater base of knowledge on all topics raised. BOSCO ACCOUNTING CO.
