Maritime Logistics Community News : April 2014
15 MARITIME LOGISTICS COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER 2014 The HTSS13 contract delivers Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate III in Multi-Skilling, gastronomy UOCs, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Hospitality Lead Auditors courses at its Glen Waverley Campus. Holmesglen's innovative approach has seen the incorporation of a web-based IT training solution, afterhours study routine and practical demonstration/assessment plan. Each IET sailor is issued an iPad which becomes their resource tool post graduation. Other features of the Holmesglen Campus includes: computer lab, extensive library, modern training kitchens/dining room, multiple lecture rooms and secure access to recreation/locker rooms and heads. The team at the ADF School of Catering (ADFSC) have worked tirelessly to implement such a progressive training contract and are justifiably proud of the quality of graduates entering the Fleet. TA-MLH Wrap Up As we near the year's end, a number of key personnel are posting out of TA-MLH. We farewell OIC RANMLS LCDR Kerry Casson, OC ADFSC MAJ Lisa Hooper, OIC TSG-MLH LCDR Rob Lightbody and OIC RANMS CMDR Tammy Thomas. Their dedication to leading their teams to optimal outcomes in a space as challenging as training, is a significant achievement. Speaking on behalf of my predecessor, CMDR Mick Slattery and myself, thankyou for your commitment to investing in the futures of the sailors and officers of the MLB. I also wish to recognise and thank CMDR Slattery for his invaluable contribution to training whilst he was DTA-MLH. Many of the innovations now coming to fruition are the result of his creativity and resourcefulness.
