Maritime Logistics Community News : April 2014
35 MARITIME LOGISTICS COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER 2014 Maritime Logistics images December 2012. Al Minhad Air Base, United Arab Emirates Much needed mail and fresh milk being transferred to HMAS ANZAC's embarked S70B helo at the end of OP SLIPPER rotation 54 by Australian Army termites. In addition, hot coffees were arranged by DMLO ANZ LEUT Andy Thorpe, purchased and delivered by LEUT Nathan Smith (DRANLO) & LSSC Ryan Jones for delivery to S70B's parched and appreciative aircrew (a little joke onboard that the DMLO couldn't do logistics, clearly not true...). You may as well land! Under the guidance of Helo Control Officer and (then) Deputy Supply Officer HMAS Perth, LEUT Mark Lucking watches over the ship's flight in the conduct of a rough weather personnel transfer to the Seaking of HMCS Algonquin. It's Getting Busy Out There During RIMPAC 2012, the window of the LSO shack shows the complexity of a multi-ship, multi-task flying serial onboard HMAS Perth. Over a three hour period the ship conducted both onload and offload Vertreps, personnel transfers and deck landing practices with their embarked Seahawk flight between Perth and two other task group ships. Up Close and Personal Under the watchful eyes of Helo Control Officer and Supply Officer HMAS Perth, CMDR Andy Nelson, (then) LSSN Cam Bray conducts a Class V hook-up for a Vertrep with the ship's Seahawk flight during RIMPAC 2012.
